New Ultra-Compact 5.7-inch TFT LCD from Hitachi

Hitachi Display Products Group has announced the launch of its new ultra-compact 5.7-inch TFT LCD display module, the TX14D12 VM1CBA. The new display module offers a 320 x 240 pixel resolution in a highly compact form factor that is 25% smaller (in terms of unit surface area) than similar 5.7-inch LCD displays. It has been designed for a wide range of industrial, epos and mobile terminal applications and offers a wide viewing angle, high colour saturation and a contrast ratio of 350:1. Offering the most compact unit with a small footprint, the new display module delivers excellent performance and flexibility and adds to Hitachi’s extensive range of 5.7-inch colour and monochrome LCD modules.

“Following close collaboration with a number of our customers, we recognised that there was a need for an ultra-compact 5.7-inch colour TFT display module. The smaller footprint gives design engineers much greater flexibility in how they configure and locate display interfaces. The very narrow bezel around the screen on the TX14D12VM1CBA means that the module can be fitted into smaller areas and leaves room for controls and switches close to the perimeter of the display,” comments Mark Dalton, Product Marketing Engineer for Hitachi Display Products Group.

The new module’s dimensions are 131mm(W) x 102mm(H) x 10mm(D) and it includes an integrated DC/DC converter that enables use with a single 3.3V power supply. A long life L-shaped CFL backlight offers a half-brightness lifetime of 50,000 hours. With a brightness level of 350 cd/m², the module produces clear, sharp images and graphics operating in a transmissive mode and producing 262,000 colours. The TX14D12VM1CBA is also available with an integrated 4-wire analogue resistive touchscreen.

The TX14D12VM1CBA is available immediately.
