New high brightness Wide VGA TFT LCD modules from Hitachi - TX18 & TX20

Hitachi Display Products Group has announced the launch of two new Wide VGA TFT display modules, the TX20 and TX18. Both offer 800 x 480 resolution in a 16:9 aspect ratio LCD module and deliver excellent performance and brightness. The TX18 is a 7-inch (diagonal) screen and the TX20 is an 8-inch screen. Both are ideal for applications where graphic images and data need to be presented side-by-side to a viewer. A wide viewing angle makes the new display modules ideal for applications such as automotive and in flight seat back systems, navigation systems and point of sale terminals. A U-shaped cold cathode fluorescent tube provides excellent brightness, delivering up to 400 cd/m 2 brightness with a 200:1 contrast ratio. This makes the two new LCD modules ideal for operation in high ambient light conditions.

“The Wide VGA format of the TX18 & TX20 offers design engineers the flexibility to present more information to the user. It is ideal for applications where good resolution and bright, saturated colours are required,” comments Mark Dalton, Product Marketing Engineer for Hitachi Display Products Group. “The 16:9 format is becoming increasingly popular for bespoke applications in e-POS, CCTV security and entertainment.

Both the TX18 and TX20 are transmissive displays producing up to 262,000 colours. The TX18 screen measures 152mm x 91mm and weighs just 170g. The TX20 screen measures 174mm x 104mm and weighs 230g. The modules can operate at temperatures between -20 °C and +70 °C.

The TX18 and TX20 are supplied through Hitachi Display Product Group’s distribution partners. They are available across Europe immediately.
