Display Products Group: About Us

Background

Hitachi has been developing and manufacturing high performance LCD products for approximately 35 years. Hitachi Displays Ltd. is a majority owned subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd. and is responsible for the Planning, Development, Design, Manufacturing and Sales of display devices. Hitachi Displays Ltd. has factories in several locations, manufacturing world-wide a broad range of monochrome and colour LCD products for equipment manufacturers. These factories are supported by 4 R&D sites within the Hitachi group covering fundamental research of display technologies, production engineering and systems development.

Financial Status

Hitachi Displays Ltd. had sales of over  200 Billion Yen in the 2008 Financial year. The majority of the sales were for small and medium size displays under 10.4” consumed by the Mobile Phone, DSC, Industrial and Distribution markets. The remaining sales were predominantly in the Automotive, Medical and Amusement markets, plus sales for other display related technologies, components and licensing.

European Overview

In Europe, Hitachi Displays Ltd. is represented by the Display Products Group (DPG) of Hitachi Europe Ltd. DPG provides direct support to major European customers in the Computer, Communications, Industrial, Medical and Automotive fields as well as supporting a wide range of customers through its Distribution network.

Our European goal is “Display Excellence”. This ranges from the products’ performance and quality, to the customer service and technical support we provide to customers and distributors.

Many of Hitachi’s standard products were developed specifically for the European Industrial market and features such as wide temperature range, long life backlighting and touch panel integration are available as standard. In addition, for higher volume projects, some product customisation may be possible if special features are required.

Hitachi’s LCD products and services are available in all European countries either directly or through its wide ranging distribution network.
